It's An Attention Economy

VERSE OF THE DAY

“And if I were to be so generous as to give away everything I owned to feed the poor, and to offer my body to be burned as a martyr, without the pure motive of love, I would gain nothing of value.” - 1 Corinthians 13:3

CONTENT MARKETING
UNDERSTAND WHICH CONTENT FORMAT IS FOR YOU

Video is king in today’s digital world! Whether it’s a quick 15-second clip or a deep-dive podcast, the right format can supercharge your brand’s online presence. But not all videos work for every business—knowing which ones fit your brand and making sure your team can create and edit them is the real game-changer.

Here are six video formats to boost your visibility:

  1. Podcasts (YouTube, social clips) – Podcasts aren’t just for listening anymore! Adding video makes them more engaging and shareable. Perfect for showing off expertise, industry interviews, and behind-the-scenes stories.

  2. Tutorials (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok) – Got knowledge to share? Tutorials simplify complex topics and position your business as the go-to expert. Short-form versions help you ride the wave of viral "snackable content."

  3. News & Industry Insights (X, LinkedIn) – Stay in the know and let your audience see you as the expert. Well-researched, visually engaging updates boost credibility and spark engagement.

  4. Webinars (YouTube Live, LinkedIn) – Webinars = value-packed, lead-generating gold! Interactive elements like Q&As make them even better.

  5. Motivational Content (Reels, TikTok, Shorts) – Inspire, uplift, and connect! Short, punchy videos that stir emotions can skyrocket engagement and even go viral.

  6. Hooking Content (TikTok, Reels, Shorts) – Grab attention fast! Humor, bold visuals, and strong hooks keep viewers locked in.

ENTREPRENUERSHIP
Stay away from these stumbling blocks when building your first team

Building a startup? Your early hires can make or break your company. Yet, many founders get it wrong by focusing on flashy resumes and big-name experience. Let’s break down how to build a killer early team without falling into common traps.

Forget Fancy Resumes

Hiring from top tech companies might seem smart, but big-company success doesn’t always translate to startup success. Early-stage businesses thrive on adaptability, chaos-taming, and building from scratch—skills that corporate veterans may lack. Plus, they often struggle without the structured systems and safety nets they’re used to.

Culture Starts Early

Your first 10 hires don’t just do the work—they define your culture. Their decision-making, communication, and work style become ingrained in the company DNA. Smart founders prioritize character and adaptability over technical skills.

Specialists Can Struggle

Startups need versatile problem-solvers, not rigid specialists. Early hires should be ready to wear multiple hats and pivot as needs evolve. Specialists who refuse to step outside their expertise can slow things down.

Owners, Not Employees

The best early hires think like founders—they solve problems before being asked, take ownership, and obsess over success. Startups don’t have time for micromanagement, so self-driven people are a must.

Diversity Drives Innovation

Great early teams mix backgrounds, perspectives, and skill sets. Just look at Duolingo, which thrived by hiring linguists, game designers, and data scientists instead of just EdTech experts.

Your early hires define your company’s future—choose wisely!

FINAL THOUGHTS
The landscape has changed

I was having a conversation with my Dad earlier today and I was telling him how its so interesting the way the business and world landscape is changing. Where 10-15 years ago businesses could get by without having an online presence now it it is imperative to start growing your brand and reach your target audience. Which explains why I say we live in an attention economy. Whoever can control the most eye balls will see the most business success. While this may be the case it’s going to be even more important to guard yourself from toxic influences too. Even if that means unfollowing people! But lets be real your thought life and who you let speak in to yours will manifest itself, maybe not today and maybe not tomorrow but one day it will.

This might sound crazy but recently I felt convicted about who I was allowing to speak in to my life about God. I realized that I was living through 2nd hand revelation meaning instead of receiving my own revelation of Jesus in my quiet time with the Lord I would rely on other people and often times other peoples videos to teach and tell me who God is instead of just going to the source. How backwards is that? Anyways I hope todays newsletter was helpful!
